Our
Programs

  • These high-energy programs are for 3rd–12th graders at program-hosting schools. Kids in these programs build confidence, vocal skill, and find and connect with their people. They also have the opportunity to perform in VOCO’s two major concerts each year.

After-school programs are free to participating youth, but most host schools pay a flat fee to support the program. Interested in bringing a VOCO after-school program to your school? Click the Contact Us button below and submit the form today!

  • VOCO Aurora is a brand-new, free program for 3rd–12th graders across the Denver Metro Area and designed to make the VOCO experience more accessible for Aurora families.

This program meets Wednesday nights from 6:00–7:00 pm at Aurora West College Preparatory Academy and is led by James Jensen, the amazing AWCPA choir teacher.

VOCO Aurora youth will perform in Black Music Matters and perform in VOCO’s spring concert, VOCO-CHELLA.

  • An invite-only program, VOCO All-Stars is for top 3rd-12th grade performers across all VOCO programs and designed for kids and families that want to take their VOCO experience to the next level.

VOCO All-Stars is still a free program, but does involve an increased commitment. All-Stars perform in every major VOCO concert, participate in Black Music Matters, and strengthen and deepen their bonds and connections inside the VOCO community.

  • VOCO Elite is our premier invite-only program for the most committed and skilled 6th–12th grade youth in the VOCO-Verse. Not only do these kids perform in every major VOCO concert and Black Music Matters, they also serve as our Youth Leadership Council, mentoring younger singers and collaborating with VOCO staff and partner artists to shape the VOCO experience for kids across our programs.

Through high standards, high commitment, advanced repertoire, and a culture of accountability and care, VOCO Elite members build deep, meaningful relationships with each other and share unforgettable experiences like regional and international cultural exchange performance tours.

  • VOCO-CHELLA is VOCO’s signature festival-style program, giving youth an immersive, high-energy arena show experience that demonstrates what’s possible when kids step confidently into their power. Leading up to the show, participants engage in hands-on workshops with VOCO staff and partner artists, developing their skills, building confidence, and forming lasting connections with peers across the region—connections that can change their lives forever. VOCO-CHELLA is more than a concert; it’s a transformative experience that shows students the impact they can have in their community through hard work, commitment, and resilience.

For a flat fee, school choirs with students in grades 3–12 can join youth across all VOCO programs for VOCO-CHELLA, receiving hands-on guidance from VOCO staff along the way as you prepare for the concert. • Created by beloved VOCO teaching artist Larea Edwards and her gospel trio Spirit of Grace, Black Music Matters (BMM) gives Denver youth an immersive experience in the history, culture, and power of Black music. From gospel, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, to music from the African continent and beyond, students learn directly from exceptional Black artists, gaining skills, performance experience, and cultural insight that traditional choirs rarely provide. BMM leaves a lasting impact on youth and educators alike, shaping how participants understand and honor Black music—and all it represents—for many years to come.

For a flat fee, school choirs with students in grades 6–12 can join VOCO All-Stars, VOCO Elite, and VOCO Aurora for this transformative program and receive hands-on guidance from Larea and collaborators to prepare for the concert.
