YOUTH TESTIMONIALS

“VOCO is like a dream. It makes you feel like you can do anything.”

“It lets me meet new people and have life-changing experiences.”

“It’s a very big confidence booster. I feel more free and open.”

“It’s an environment where you can learn to express yourself without feeling ashamed.”

how it works

  1. Youth get registered for a VOCO program in their area, and begin attending weekly sessions.

  2. At each weekly session, youth experience a unique blend of musical and social-emotional instruction that helps them improve their ability to express themselves while supporting their mental health needs.

  3. After several weeks of hard work and learning, they host inspirational concerts that showcase their talents, bring people together, and skyrocket their personal confidence.

equity-driven priorities

  • We prioritize offering our programs to underserved youth in underserved, under-resourced areas

  • We prioritize BIPOC art, music, cultures, issues, and collaborating with BIPOC artists

  • We prioritize youth and community voice in our planning, processing, and dreaming

  • We prioritize making our programs free for low-income, under-resourced families

A stage full of bold, confident performers

“VOCO passionately and enthusiastically meets kids where they are, and blows their minds with what's possible. Bringing this program to youth in a community that faces many challenges has been a peak experience in my thirty year career."
-Melissa Bishop, DPS Music Educator and VOCO Program Partner
